Mahabalipuram had been on my mind from the time I have realized my love for exploring heritage. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and boasts of a collection of religious monuments dating back to 7th century. So, when I got an invite for the Blogger’s retreat at Chariot Beach resort, Mahabalipuram, without sparing a minute, I replied back with my confirmation. The next thing I did was to know more about the property I was going to review. Trip Advisor had lots of good things to say about Chariot Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram and I just couldn’t wait to be there.

Rooms at Chariot Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram

The area in Chariot Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram is so huge that buggy comes to rescue to take people from one place to another. So, after a grand welcome, I was taken to my beach view room in a buggy from where I could see the sea greeting the sky as far as my eyes could go. It was a pretty quaint cottage with a cobbled pathway and a private lawn around. The room was plush and equipped with the high class amenities like coffee maker, refrigerator, mini bar, iron board and some munchies too. The lighting and the interiors were to make sure that I have a relaxed time in the room. The highlight for me is the open shower which comes with every sea view cottage at the resort.

There are various categories of the rooms to fit varied budgets and requirements. Few rooms get the privilege of staring at the sea from comfort of the bed while few get the view of an olympic size of pool.

Restaurants at Chariot Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram

What more could I expect than to have sumptuous meals in varied ambiances in different restaurants over the tenure of my stay there. They have restaurants to eat basis your mood and that too with equally lovely arrangements. We had our lunch in their multi cuisine restaurant called Kapi which has an outside seating as well and certainly adds to the charm of the resort. The Paanam bar offers a range of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits for one to unwind and have a great time. We had a hearty dinner at Coast, the seafood restaurant and relished the seafood specialties to the core. The sea food restaurant is right at the beach to accentuate your senses with the musical waves crashing at the shore. The desserts need a special mention as I was floored by their bakery , Bake House which had some phenomenal muffins, delicious cakes and so much more.

Recreational facilities at Chariot Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram

How much ever I wanted to laze around in this stunning property, there was so much to do in every nook and corner of it that I hardly stayed inside my cottage. Most of my time was spent in the humongous Olympic size pool which looked every bit pretty and had my attention from the time I entered the resort.

The Neighborhood Activity Zone is one of it’s kind adventure zone where teams and families can bond well. The bloggers also bonded the most while walking the Burma bridge, attempting the Dynamic Challenging Course and swaying at Flying fox. The pillars painted in army colors gave a thrill by the mere look of it.

The inhouse Ayurvedic Spa was rejuvenating and absolutely refreshing and it was all the more soothing because of the view of crashing water waves by the shore.

The Catamaran ride to spot the hidden temples in the sea was my favorite experience of the trip. The boat incised through the roaring waves and took us till the shore temple. But what stirred my senses was when I spotted the hidden temples in the middle of the sea. All the lessons from my history class flashed through my eyes.

  8. Thanks for introducing me to a new part of India! I have just got back from the north, so am yet to experience all of these beautiful beaches in the south. I really love the healing properties of Ayurveda, so would love to try out the spa here – and essentially, India can be chaotic, so it’s great to find a place to unwind and treat yourself.
