1) Arakkal Museum, Kannur
Kerala has had only one Muslim royal family in its history – the Arakkal family. This museum is dedicated to the family. In fact, the museum is inside the Arakkal Royal Palace. The family heritage has been preserved by the government as the royal family played a pivotal role in the history of Malabar.
Timing: Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am to 5 pm.

2) Hill Palace Museum, Kochi
Hill Palace is an archaeological museum. The Cochin Royal Family used to reside here. It has on display the crown and ornaments worn by the royal family. There are exhibits of paintings, sculptures, and other artefacts, including the weapons used then.
Timing: Tuesday to Sunday: 9 am to 5 pm.

3) Ethnological Museum at KIRTADS, Kozhikode
This fascinating museum houses paraphernalia of tribal communities of Kerala. It has artefacts such as tools, utensils, clothes, ornaments, etc. Founded to promote the development and increase the awareness of tribal communities, this comprehensive and informative museum is maintained by the Government of Kerala.
Timing: Monday to Saturday: 10 am to 5 pm.

4) Napier Museum, Thiruvananthapuram
This is an art and natural history museum. However, it is interesting to note that the museum attracts architecture enthusiasts as well because the building itself is considered to be a masterpiece. Here you can see ancient artefacts, idols, and ornaments on display. There is also a beautiful exhibit of a temple chariot.
Timing: Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am to 5 pm.

5) Wayanad Heritage Museum, Ambalavayal
Located close to Sulthan Bathery, this is considered one of the largest and best archaeological museums in Kerala. Its artefacts are a testament of the advanced civilisation that once existed in Wayanad. It has stone weapons, stone carvings, sculptures from the 14th to 16th centuries, Megalithic pottery, and hunting equipment.
Timing: Tuesday to Sunday: 9 am to 5.30 pm
