5 Offbeat Places To Visit In Jaipur With Family

Jaipur is a wonderful holiday destination, especially if you are planning a trip with your family. Must-visit places in Jaipur include the usual suspects: Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the buzzing, vibrant bazaars are some popular Jaipur sightseeing options. However, there are tourist places in Jaipur that are less explored, and yet, must not be missed during a family vacation.

These five recommendations may not be typical Jaipur points of interest but are highly recommended for you and your family.

1. Amer Sagar

Situated right behind Amer Fort, this is a popular outing spot for the locals of Jaipur. Many tourists come to see Jal Mahal but not much attention is directed towards the lake that surrounds it. Amer Sagar is the principal source of water to the forts nearby as well as for the step wells in the area. You will enjoy walking along its periphery and admiring its architectural beauty, especially during sunset.

A truly massive piece of artillery with several astonishing legends attached to it, this weapon has stayed under the average tourist’s radar despite being in the Jaigarh Fort area. It was used only once to fire a cannonball, yet the sight of this magnificent device is sure to give you goosebumps. In a land famous for its martial history, it is only obvious that you visit the biggest of all Rajput guns to marvel at.

While you may spend a lot of time gazing at the creations of the Rajput Royals, there is one place where you can visit the royals themselves as they rest in eternal sleep. Gaitore ki Chhatriyan is the final resting place of Jaipur’s royal clan, the Kachwahas. This site was created in the 18th century and has many royal cenotaphs with umbrella-shaped domes. The intricate carvings on the sandstone and marble structures make this a fascinating stop in your offbeat Jaipur itinerary.

A four-sided structure with considerable depth, Chand Baori has a step well at the bottom. This 10th century construction is flanked by a temple on one side, with about 3500 terraced stairs on the other.
