Having stayed in Bangalore for years, Ooty is not a new destination for me. I have been to this beautiful hill station many times before and honestly I haven’t got tired of the mesmerizing Nilgiri ranges yet. Also, I don’t see it happening in years to come. This time I was invited by a resort called La Montana by TGI. I gladly accepted the invite and asked a friend to join. Ofcourse I had checked out the property images online, but only when I reached there, I realized that the images didn’t do any justice to the stupendous views from the property. I was absolutely mind blown on the first look of the resort.
Location of La Montana by TGI, Ooty
We took an overnight bus from Bangalore to Ooty and were received by the resort staff at the Ooty bus stand. With a warm welcome and the local welcome drink, we checked in the hotel. The pampering had begun from this moment. As soon as we reached the newly renovated room, the views from our huge balcony got me extremely excited and I knew that the stay is going to be amazing. The rolling hills, lush green valleys dotted with the colored houses, a train track through a tunnel and the bright sunlight warming us was a treat to our eyes. The Nilgiris layered in white mist wouldn’t let me blink my eyes and I instantly got to know that the balcony is going to be my hang out for my two days of stay there.
La Montana resort is appropriately located at an approachable distance from all the must see places in Ooty. Escaped from the mad rush of the city center, all I could hear was the cuckooing of birds in the resort and a few whistles of the toy train.
As I always say, I am a sucker for sunrise and sunsets. I can walk for hours, get up at wee hours and let go off things to witness a sunrise or sunset. And would you believe that I didn’t have to do any of it to watch a glorious sunrise from the resort. I had put an alarm to get up for sunrise but I kept waking up even before my alarm rang. But when it was time, I could see my favorite shades of color right from my bed. It was a perfect amalgamation of orange, pink and red on the sky as if a painter had just created a masterpiece.
Food at La Montana by TGI, Ooty
Honestly how much ever I try to put their delicious food into words, I will not be able to do justice to the mind blowing food they served. Starting from a huge variety of breakfast options when I ate to my heart’s content, to the lunch which was authentic south Indian Nilgiri thali served on banana leaf with uncountable dishes which left me confused to point my favourite one. The dinner was Italian where they made the yum starters and fantastic pasta. The dessert always had options and I resisted trying all of those but in vain.
Next day was about droolworthy Chinese and lip smacking North Indian cuisine. I mean they didn’t leave any stone unturned and made sure that I put on at least 2 kgs before I leave.
Amenities at La Montana by TGI, Ooty
The resort offers the perfect getaway to spend some amazing times with friends and family. They have all the provisions for one to make memories and spend good times. From indoor games like carrom, pool and table tennis to swings in their lawn, they cater to all you would need to make the weekend memorable. The evenings get intoxicating at the resort when they lit the bonfire and start the water fountain. We totally had the times of our lives at the resort and chatted our heart out around the bonfire in that cold night.
The rooms are well equipped with tea/ coffee maker and other required amenities. The heater is provided for the extreme cold nights. The resort is under renovation and a gym, kids play area and provision for few fun adventure activities is on the plan. I think next time on my visit to Ooty, I won’t have a reason to step out of this property.
I wish I could stay there forever as the resort had everything I’d need. The most mesmerising views from all their windows, the crazy yum food and the most courteous staff who made sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay.
Make sure to check out the resort on your next trip to Ooty.
